CannaConnect is proud to announce retired Lieutenant-Colonel, Nick Withers, as our first Medical Director. Nick had an illustrious 22-year career in the Canadian Armed Forces highlighted by his time as Unit Medical Officer at Joint Task Force 2 and then CANSOFCOM Surgeon. In 2011, he commanded the Health Services Unit in Afghanistan before finishing his career with the Royal Canadian Navy as Maritime Forces Pacific Command Surgeon.
A proud Newfoundlander, Nick attended medical school at Memorial University and completed his family medicine training at the University of Calgary in 1998. Dr. Withers has been practising emergency medicine for twenty-years and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine. Active in his community, Nick completed his term on the Board of Directors of the Esquimalt Military Family Resource Centre in 2018. He was volunteer Director of Medical Services on the Board of Directors for the 2018 Cowichan BC Summer Games.
As CannaConnect’s Medical Director, Dr. Wither’s role and responsibilities will include advising the Company on new opportunities within the medical cannabis space, helping to expand and manage our network of healthcare practitioners, advising on process and procedures within our clinics, liaising with medical associations and colleges, as well as supporting the Company’s efforts with key stakeholders such as Veterans Affairs Canada.
